Deemed “The coolest place to stay in the city…” by Hotel Guru, the Brody house is located opposite the Hungarian National Museum in Budapest. Not too far from the Small Boulevard, the hotel is conveniently centrally situated meaning a quiet, peaceful stay that is still opportunely close to the great sights and attractions in the city. Such attractions include the Károlyi Garden, Great Market Hall, Museum of Applied Arts and St. Stephen’s Basilica. Popular cafés, restaurants and bars are also in the vicinity of the hotel.

The hotel is very welcoming with a family home effect. The high ceilings, solid herringbone parquet flooring and bohemian style décor is one of the many reasons this hotel is so popular with guests. The cozy feeling is enhanced with light streaming in from the huge bay windows. The collection of comfortable sofas and reading chairs look and feel inviting as well. The walls are lined with art created by talented artists.

The accommodations are just are wonderful, arranged around galleried walkways that overlook the central courtyard. Each room is named after an artist with a Brody House connection. Most of these artists used the room as a studio, paying for their stay with works of art. Overall, this hotel is charming and quaint, perfect for a peaceful getaway.

Palazzo Zichy Hotel, Budapest
Expert reviews

“Design hotels can sometimes feel insubstantial. Not so the Palazzo Zichy, a stylish, chic 80-room establishment that opened in 2009 in a restored 19th-century mansion, whose thick walls lend a sense of solidity. The mix of original, neo-Baroque stairwells and modern minimalist décor probably shouldn’t work, but it does.”

Featured in New York Times’ 36 Hours in Budapest.

Telegraph review:

“The four-star Hotel Palazzo Zichy is a consistent favourite with those seeking characterful, refined accommodation at an affordable price. It occupies an elegant palace built in 1899 by Count Nándor Zichy, a devoutly religious nobleman who was once imprisoned for writing a political article critical of Habsburg rule.”

CNN review:

“Located in the Jewish Quarter, in its previous life the Zara was an elegant bathhouse. The 272-room hotel has art deco touches throughout, and offers great amenities for business travelers as well as for tourists.”

“With 272 large and beautifully furnished rooms and a huge atrium lobby retaining some of the original 19th-century building’s features, the major draw here is the wellness centre on the top floor and the panoramic garden with swimming pool.”
